Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks hustled their way to a lead in the first inning on Friday night, and appeared on their way to winning a second straight ballgame to open the second half of the season. Brandon Barnes leveled Rancho Cucamonga Quakes catcher Alberto Rosario to complete an inside-the-park home run, and the JetHawks were in front 1-0. Unfortunately for Lancaster, that would be the last run the JetHawks would score, and Rancho Cucamonga cruised to a 7-1 win the even the series at a game apiece.

The Quakes struck for four runs in the fifth of JetHawks starter Chad Wagler, and all of them came with two outs. Hector Estrella hit a home run to center for the first of what would be five consecutive hits for the Quakes. Jeremy Moore and Efren Navarro singled, and Clay Fuller then singled to bring in Moore. Carlos Colmenares then doubled to clear the bases, and the Quakes were ahead 5-1.

They hung two more in the sixth on another Estrella homer. With Rosario on first, Estrella went deep for the second straight at bat, lining another Wagler offering over the wall in right center.

Bryan Hallberg came in to the game in the seventh to relieve Wagler - who allowed seven earned runs on nine hits in six innings - and Hallberg pitched two perfect innings. Jeff Icenogle was also spotless, retiring all three batters in the ninth.
