Pro Volleyball Federation Showcases Technology with Bolt6 Results from Week One

January 31, 2024 - Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio / FRISCO, Texas - Pro Volleyball Federation - the premier women's volleyball league in North America - began its opening week in partnership with Bolt6, a sports technology leader that delivers services in tracking, video replay and XR products.

The technology delivered with great success and has been seen as a huge step forward by fans and players alike. In the three opening week Pro Volleyball Federation matches, the League had 12 challenges. All of the challenges had a confirmed outcome - with each challenge lasting only 30 seconds. In addition to the video replay, the line calls during opening week were made with an average latency of under 400 milliseconds. Teams in Pro Volleyball Federation are enjoying the fastest replay and tracking technology on the planet.

Bolt6 is providing the League with video replay officiating that utilizes broadcast and 14 specialist 4K cameras placed around the court. While the video is made available to anyone with a device and internet connection, the Pro Volleyball Federation is using a centralized replay center - a world first for volleyball. Bolt6 will also provide the output of the decision to broadcast, in-stadium displays, and first referee.

Among the 14 challenges, 67 percent were unsuccessful - confirming that the original decision made by officials was correct. A total of 33 percent were successful, meaning that the officials' original decision was corrected.

The system uses an additional 10 cameras at 4K resolution in the stands around the court for ball and player tracking, providing live in and out calls. Calls are made live with the decision being sent to a tablet on the first referee's chair and the remote center. All balls that bounce within 12 inches of a line are displayed for officials, players and fans through Bolt6's virtual replays.
