Pride down Force, 4-0

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Strong pitching and defensive mishaps proved to be the downfall as the Force fell to the visiting USSSA Pride by the score of4-0 Friday evening at ECTB Stadium. The Force who generated four hits on the night had their hands full with over 1,508 fans in attendance.

Friday's loss dropped the Force's record to 10-27 on the season, while the fourth place Pride improved their season mark to 15-23.

Producing at the plate for the Force were Jami Lobpries, Megan Gibson, Emily Friedman, and DeAnn Justice. For the visiting Pride, their offense totaled five hits on the night to earn them their second win of the five game series.

In the circle, the Force pitching staff saw Stacy Birk pick up her second start of the season. In five innings pitched Birk surrendered three runs on three hits, allowed five walks, and fanned two batters. Closing out the final two innings for Philly was Darcy Wood. Wood who closed out yesterday's victory allowed one run on two hits, and had one strikeout.

For the Pride, they received four solid innings from Sarah Pauly. Pauly picked up her tenth victory of the season Friday evening, and recorded one strikeout. US Olympian Monica Abbot closed out the final three innings for team fanning the first six batters she saw in order. She got into a little trouble in the bottom of the seventh but worked her way out of it. Abbott closed out the night with a total of seven strikeouts and allowed just one hit.

The Pride first got on the board in the top of the first on an RBI double from Amber Jackson. It then became a 3-0 game in the top of the fifth. USSSA secured the win in the sixth on an unearned run.

Philly returns to action tomorrow evening when they take on the Pride in game four of the five game stint. Start time is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. EST and as always can be viewed online by http://www.philadelphiaforce.com/live.
