Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that single game tickets for the 2007-08 Fifth Anniversary Season, including the team's preseason home game, go on sale Friday, September 14, at 10.a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets including the Dodge Arena Box Office.
Single-game tickets start at $12.55 and can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com and at local Valley ticket outlets including Macy's (inside La Plaza Mall) and FYE (Brownsville). Season tickets, group tickets and mini-plans, all with no service charges, are available now by calling the Killer Bees at 956-843-PUCK (7825).
The Killer Bees and Corpus Christi Rayz will play a preseason contest at Dodge Arena on Monday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m. The teams also play at American Bank Center in Corpus Christi on Saturday, October 13, at 7:05 p.m. Those two games will serve as a tune-up for the regular season opening weekend when the teams play a home-and-home series. The Bees open the regular season at home on Friday, October 19 vs. the Rayz at 7:30 p.m., then travel to Corpus Christi the following night for a 7:05 p.m. game.
The Killer Bees have also finalized an agreement to televise 12 games in association with Televisa and South Texas Ford Dealers. For the fifth-straight season, Televisa XERV-9 (Cable 19) will serve as the TV flagship for Killer Bees hockey.
Every Saturday night home game will be carried live, in its entirety. The broadcast will feature a brief pre-game show, and an expanded intermission report with live interviews, special feature segments and highlights. Rich Bocchini will handle the play-by-play duties. A color analyst and intermission host will be named at a later date.
"We're in the unique situation of being the only professional hockey team to have its' games broadcast on a Mexico-origination TV station," said Killer Bees General manager Grant Buckborough. "Televisa has grown with us in its coverage of our games and has done a tremendous job exposing new fans to the sport. We often hear from fans in Mexico who enjoy watching the games in addition to fans on this side of the border who tune in when they can't make it to the arena."
XERV-9 is based in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Time Warner cable in the Rio Grande Valley region carries the station on cable channel 19.
In addition to the television games, fans can listen to every game online (www.allinbroadcasting.com) and on the radio. Friday and Saturday games will be broadcast on KURV 710 AM Talk Radio, with most weekday games airing on ESPN Radio 1240 AM.
