
Premier Lacrosse League to Host Anishinabe Baagaadowewin in Minneapolis

LOS ANGELES, CA. - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster will host Anishinabe Baagaadowewin at TCO Stadium during the Week 5 games from July 9th through 11th.
Anishinabe Baagaadowewin is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to share Anishinabe history and culture. Anishinabe People have been playing lacrosse for more than 500 years. Tribal groups represented within the Anishinabe or Anishinabek Nation include Odawa, Ojibway, Potawatomi, Delaware, Chippewa, Algonquin, and Mississauga and Allies.
"The medicine game can be played in many different forms: men's, women's, box, field, sixes, and in the backyard," said PLL Director of Players & Inclusion Kyle Harrison. "The Anishinabe People have been playing lacrosse for more than 500 years. We're excited to share their game - and what it means to them - with PLL fans in Minnesota."
Throughout the PLL game weekend, Anishinabe Baagaadowewin is leading a local partnership that includes Dakota and Ojibwe members of the Lightning Stick Society and Twin Cities Native Lacrosse. They will demonstrate the traditional wooden lacrosse stick game played by Midwest Tribes, explain the significance of the wooden lacrosse stick to Indigenous culture, and tell fans what lacrosse means to Indigenous people in the Midwest today.
"The Premier Lacrosse League has given us the opportunity to bring awareness to the role of the various Indigenous nations have played and continue to play in lacrosse," said Isaiah Kicknosway, President and Founder Anishinabe Baagaadowewin Lacrosse. "The interest and popularity of lacrosse among Indigenous people has increased exponentially in the last decade throughout North America. We are proud to help the Premier Lacrosse League grow the sport and have Indigenous stories of the game be showcased for all to see."
Ojibwe and Aamjiwnaang First Nation Member Kyle Jackson will be playing for Chaos LC against Atlas LC on Saturday, July 10th at 7:45PM CT.
Stick-making, history display, and game demos will begin in the Premier Zone 90 minutes prior to the first game each day.
