Premier Lacrosse League Players to Wear Orange Helmet Straps in Support of the Indigenous Communities

July 9, 2021 - Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) News Release

LOS ANGELES, CA. - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster has announced an initiative to raise awareness and drive education around the multiple, tragic discoveries of unmarked graves at the sites of former Indigenous residential and boarding schools.

"Every child matters and we need to honor all of the Indigenous children that never returned home from residential and boarding schools," said Cannons LC attackman Lyle Thompson. "This is a huge part of Canadian and American history. My hope is that we can show our respects to all of the Indigenous people who have been effected by these tragedies."

Every Child Matters can serve as both truth and reconciliation, and as a healing journey for Native survivors through a commitment by all to recognize these historical injustices.

Players will have the option to wear orange helmet straps beginning this weekend in Minneapolis. The orange helmet straps will be featured in the NBCSN broadcast in an effort to drive education around these issues, which continue to impact Indigenous peoples across North America.

Fans, viewers, youth organizations, and partners will have the ability to purchase the orange straps. All proceeds will be donated to The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition, a membership organization comprised of over 80 Native and Non-Native members and organizations committed to boarding school healing.
