Premier Lacrosse League Announces Paul Rabil as President
November 16, 2021 - Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) News Release
LOS ANGELES, CA. - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster has announced that the recently retired player and Co-Founder, Paul Rabil, will be taking on a new role as President, joining his brother, Co-Founder Chairman and CEO, Mike Rabil, in the front office, effective immediately. Previously, Rabil was the PLL's Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Strategy Officer.
"It's bittersweet to no longer see Paul on-field, but we're excited to get more of his time in the front office," said PLL Chairman and CEO, Mike Rabil. "He's our day-to-day external flag bearer of the company and thinks about pro sports in so many unique ways. We're confident that his leadership experience on-field and across new media will help drive the PLL's success into the future."
In his new role, Rabil will continue to oversee the company's media strategy, creative and execution, while also orchestrating lacrosse strategy and success on-field.
"The transition from retirement to front office has been one that Mike and I have discussed for several years now," said Paul Rabil. "The company has depended on and required Mike's gracious and gritty skillset to build structure, drive performance, and create culture at the company. I'm excited to continue to help shape and develop our gameday product, interact with our players, and be a part of the on-field experience in a much deeper capacity."
On the PLL's upcoming media deal, Rabil added, "We're approaching a major tipping point in our league's trajectory. The way that we're planning to distribute our live games, build meaningful shoulder programming, and package our highlights and features across major media outlets as well as owned and operated channels will continue to mark the PLL as the most innovative in sports."
Mike and Paul Rabil began building the PLL in 2018, and in two short years, the League was recognized by Sports Business Journal as the Sports Breakthrough of the Year in 2020. Continuing with the momentum, the Rabil brothers announced that the PLL and Major League Lacrosse (MLL) had successfully completed a merger, with subsequent season operations and activities formally existing under the PLL. The PLL just finished its third season, posting record-breaking numbers in viewership, attendance, and revenue.
