Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) and Principal® to Donate $60,000 for PHF Foundation Award Recipients

May 19, 2022 - Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) News Release

(Boston and Des Moines, Iowa) - The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) and Principal® announced today a new end-of-season charitable initiative that expands upon the company's role as the exclusive financial services marketing partner of the PHF. As part of the end-of-season awards, Principal will donate $10,000 directly to a charity of choice on behalf of each PHF player that won the PHF Foundation Award for the 2021-22 regular season. The award recognizes players who actively apply the core values of hockey to their community and who grow and improve hockey culture.

This season's six PHF Foundation Award recipients and the organizations they support are Jenna Rheault of the Boston Pride for Kid Adventures, Grace Klienbach of the Buffalo Beauts for Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, Shannon Turner of the Connecticut Whale for Active Minds, Madison Packer of the Metropolitan Riveters for the Kyle Pavone Foundation, Allie Thunstrom of the Minnesota Whitecaps for DinoMights, and Saroya Tinker of the Toronto Six for Black Girl Hockey Club.

"The commitment required to compete at the professional level goes beyond what players can accomplish on the ice, and we applaud the dedicated PHF athletes who consistently embrace their opportunity to make a difference in their communities," said Reagan Carey, PHF commissioner. "This generous investment by Principal will go a long way to helping our community leaders continue making a positive impact. Thank you to Principal for supporting PHF athletes and recognizing those who have gone above and beyond this season."

Throughout the season Principal has been working in collaboration with the PHF to launch an integrated social media campaign that shines a spotlight on the athletes in the league. Principal has also had a significant advertising presence, including dasher board and broadcast inventory during PHF regular-season games and the 2022 Isobel Cup Playoffs.

"During the first year of this sponsorship not only have we been wowed by the professionalism and the athleticism of these women, but we've also witnessed their generosity," said Beth Wood, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Principal. "Through this collaboration and by providing this donation through the players, we are excited to see these qualities translated to the charities that are personal to these women and their communities."

Principal continues to align its sports advertising and sponsorship strategy for 2022 to reflect its internal commitment to gender equity. Through its media investment, Principal is an active supporter of NCAA Women's and Men's basketball and professional tennis and golf across genders.
