Premier Basketball League heads to Las Vegas for SGMA show

(Chicago, IL)...The Premier Basketball League will head to Las Vegas, Nevada on June 11-13, 2007 for the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) Spring Market Show at the Sands Expo & Convention Center to introduce and showcase the new professional basketball league.

The PBL currently has six charter teams and plans to announce two more markets in the next ten days. The Maryland Nighthawks, Reading Railers, Rochester RazorSharks and Wilmington Sea Dawgs will be joined by expansion teams in Dallas, Texas and Bridgeport, Connecticut for the 2007-2008 season.

"The Premier Basketball League's appearance at the SGMA Show will strengthen our brand and introduce our league to the sporting goods manufacturers industry," said PBL Chief Executive Officer Tom Doyle. "We look forward to establishing relationships with key world-wide sporting goods companies as the PBL advances our business plan heading into our first season"

The PBL will feature player exhibitions on a court set-up on the floor of the Sands Expo & Convention Center throughout the show as well as introduce the various teams and ownership groups. "To showcase our team owners, players and the staff who will operate the PBL is very important from an introductory standpoint for the sporting goods industry. The PBL will strive to be a leader in branding and marketing minor league professional basketball in North America and around the world."

The SGMA Show features sporting goods manufacturers and retailers from around the world, including brands such as ASICS, Easton, New Balance, Wilson, Under Armour and Everlast. Attendees can view entire product lines, including footwear, basketball, apparel and sports and fitness equipment as new innovations and styles are introduced to the marketplace.

The PBL is expected to play a minimum of 24-games in their inaugural season followed by championship playoffs in May 2008. An international touring team and international exhibition games with PBL teams are planned for the future, as well as professional basketball inter-league play. The PBL is in the process of registering with USA Basketball and the Federation International Basketball (FIBA).
