Arctic Predators News Release
The Predators first game against San Jose ended in a loss with the final score being 64-12. The score, however, doesn't reflect the game. we had 3 tds & a few interceptions called back due to penelties. We stayed in the red zone much of the game. We're a young team w/6 starters who had to meet us in san jose because of the inavailability of flights caused by spring break travel....this team has not practiced together as a whole team so our next game will be a much closer.
We have a great deal of talent and the young men on our team are incredible individuals, not just on the field, but off. The new players who had signed but had to meet us in San Jose are Danny O'Niell-WR/DB, Ron Jacksen--OL/DL, Reggie Frazier--RB/FB, Monte Purvis--QB, Micah Mobley--WR/DB and Antionio Dishman--WR/DB whose uncle, Cris Dishman spent 13 season with the NFL. The former Pro Bowl and All-Pro cornerback is now the assistant secondary coach with the San Diego Chargers. Andre Velazquez also signed with the Predators on Thursday and, after one game, leads the league in total yardage.
Also joining the Predators in San Jose was Coach Meadow Lemon. If that name sounds familiar, it is! Coach Lemon is the son of the Harlem Globetrotter legend, Meadowlark Lemon. Coach Lemon has had a long career in athletics. The past six years was spent at Linfield College as the Corner Backs Coach and Football Operations. In addition he also over saw the Kick-Off team which finished ranked #1 in the NWC in 2007-2008. Served as the NWC regional assistant coach representative to the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association). He has prior exprience as a head coach in the indoor football league. He also received a silver medal of recognition for serving as a coordinator for the Atlanta Olympic Committee. His long history of coaching and sports marketing will continue to spearhead the Arctic Predators in a positive direction.
While the Team was on the road, The cheer/dance team volunteered at the Matsu Special Olympics Auction and Speghetti feed held last Saturday night. The Predator's items were a huge hit and brought in much needed funds for the Special Olympic program. Special Olympics will be running he mrechandise stand at the home games. Saturday April 10th's home game is Special Olympics night. Military appreciation night will be May 8th.
Season and individual game tickets are on sell now. please visit www.matsufootball.com for more informaton. or call 907-775-0107.
