(Stockton, CA) - The Stockton Ports scored the final five runs of the night Thursday to overcome a brief 5-4 Lancaster lead and secure a 9-5 win in game one of the California League Championship series.

Lancaster started Terumasa Matsuo, who was added to the roster Thursday from Greeneville. The 26-year old lasted 3.1 innings in his California League debut, allowing five runs, all earned on five hits. He fanned four and walked three.

Stockton opened the scoring with a four-run second inning keyed by an RBI double by leftfielder Archie Gilbert who finished 3-4 with a run scored, two stolen bases and six RBI.

However, the resilient JetHawks answered right back with four runs of their own in the top of the third to even the score at 4-4. Jon Still drove home a pair of runs with an RBI double and scored on Luis Exposito's double to left.

Lancaster took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth after loading the bases with no outs, but settled for one run, on a Yamaico Navarro double play grounder. Stockton knotted the game at 5-5 with a Gilber sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.

The Ports went ahead to stay with back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the sixth off reliever Craig Molldrem. Gilbert brought home an insurance run with a single up the middle. Stockton then tacked on two runs in the eighth against Felipe Garcia to establish the final margin.
