Pirates News Release

The State College Spikes and the Pittsburgh Pirates invite fans to help the Pirate Parrot raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research on Tuesday, June 29, when the Parrot makes a stop at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on his 350-mile charity "Cruise for a Cure" across Pennsylvania.

During the stop, fans will have the opportunity to get autographs from Pirates greats Kent Tekulve and Grant Jackson, take pictures with the Parrot on his motorcycle, and make donations to his fight against prostate cancer. Ike the Spike will also be on hand to encourage fans to aid in the effort.

Fans can make donations to the "Cruise for a Cure" by visiting pirates.com/cruise to help the Parrot raise money for prostate cancer research. Donations will be accepted as a one-time flat donation or on a per-mile pledge basis. All funds will be raised through Pirates Charities and then donated directly to the Western Pennsylvania Prostate Cancer Foundation.

The Parrot is making his statewide journey on a special Can-am Spyder motorcycle, which has been donated by Mosites Motorsports specifically for his trek across the state.
