
PIFL Releases 2014 Season Schedule

NASHVILLE, TN (November 12, 2013) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the release of the 2014 season schedule with the season kicking off on March 22nd .
Beginning on Saturday March 22nd and concluding on Saturday June 28th, the 2014 PIFL schedule consists of each team playing a twelve game schedule with three bye weeks over a 15-week span. In addition, each team will feature two rival opponents in which they face those opponents three separate times throughout the season making up half of their regular-season schedule.
The PIFL will break into two separate conferences with the Alabama Hammers, Albany Panthers, Columbus Lions, and Nashville Venom making up the American Conference and the Harrisburg Stampede, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, Richmond Raiders and Trenton Freedom in the National Conference.
Playoffs will consist of the top two teams from each conference facing each other in the semi-finals with the winners from the American and National Conference meeting in the championship game.
On March 22nd the expansion Nashville Venom will make their debut on the road in Albany against the Panthers and their 23-2 regular-season home record. Later on Albany will have to overcome a tough month of May consisting of three consecutive road-games, last season the Panthers went a combined 2- 5 on the road their lowest percentage in four seasons.
The following Sunday both the Trenton Freedom (vs. Richmond) and Harrisburg Stampede (vs.
Columbus) make their PIFL debuts at home. Trenton host's four of their first six games while the Stampede close out the season hosting four their last five games concluding with a rival meeting versus Lehigh Valley.
Featuring a home heavy first half schedule, the Steelhawks play five home games in the season's first nine week's beginning with the first of three matchups against the Freedom on Sunday April 6th .
On Saturday March 29th defending champion Alabama Hammers begin their title defense when they host the Nashville Venom marking the first-ever meeting between the PIFL's newest rivalry. Alabama will have to overcome a road-heavy April before closing out the season with back-to-back home matchups against Trenton and Columbus.
Columbus may arguably face the toughest schedule with their rival opponents consisting of the defending champion Hammers and the 2012 champion Panthers. The Lions will try to wipe away the blemish of their 2013 campaign beginning with a Sunday March 30th trip to Harrisburg followed by their home-opener the following week versus the Raiders.
Having lost back-to-back championship games, Richmond Raiders hoping third time really is the charm commencing with two consecutive road-games followed up by the lone 2013 championship rematch of the season when the Raiders host the Hammers in their home-opener on Saturday April 12th.
