KNOXVILLE, TN (May 22, 2012) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) has named Louisiana Swashbucklers FB Kendrick Perry, Louisiana Swashbucklers DB Damian Huren, and Richmond Raiders K T.C. Stevens as the Week 10 Players of the Week.
This past Saturday, Swashbucklers FB Kendrick Perry (6'2 245, SE Louisiana) rushed for a league-high 98 yards on 12 carries with three total touchdowns guiding Louisiana to a 53-51 over the Knoxville Nighthawks garnering him the Week 10 Offensive Player of the Week. Along with this being his second Player of the Week nod (Week 7), Perry's two rushing touchdowns extended his league-leading total to 15.
Teammate DB Damian Huren (6'2 218, Southeastern) earned the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 10 after wrapping up a league-high 10.5 tackles. Huren grabbed his third interception of the season after picking off a Willie Copeland pass mid-way through the 1st quarter in Saturday's victory over the Nighthawks. Like Perry, this is Damian's second defensive nomination earning his first back in Week 7 and is just a half tackle off the lead from being the PIFL's leading tackler.
Richmond Raiders K T.C. Stevens (5'9 180, Hampden-Sydney) picked up the Week 10 Special Teams Player of the Week after leading all kickers in scoring for the week with 14. Stevens was 6 of 9 in PAT attempts, 2 of 4 on field goal attempts (37, 23), and added two Uno's stretching his season total to 13. This is the second garner for the Raiders kicker receiving his first nod way back in Week 1.
All six clubs in the PIFL will enjoy a league-wide bye before returning to action on Saturday June 2nd. The first place Albany Panthers (8-1) will host the Knoxville Nighthawks (1-8) in their final regular season home game while the Richmond Raiders (7-2) head back to the Von Braun Center to meet up with the reeling Alabama Hammers (2-7), losers of now four straight. Columbus (5-4) will finish off their current three-game road trip when the head to the Smugglers Den to meet up with the Louisiana Swashbucklers (4-5), a game with heavy playoff implications.
