NASHVILLE, TN (May 5, 2015) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the Week 7 Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week: QB Jonathan Bane (Richmond)

It was a record breaking Saturday for the Richmond Raiders organization as they not only broke PIFL single- game scoring record previously set by 2012 Richmond Raiders, but QB Jonathan Bane (6'4 205, Dakota Wesleyan) also set the league single-game record passing for ten touchdowns guiding his squad to a 87-58 win over Alabama. Despite the 145 combined points scored in Saturday's contest, it still fell 11 points shy of the record set back in April of 2013 between Lehigh Valley and Alabama. Next week, Bane and company will look to put together their first winning streak of the season when they make their first trip Erie in over four years.

Honorable Mentions: WR Robert Holland (Richmond), WR Jordan Jolly (Nashville)

Defensive Player of the Week: LB Douglas Rippy (Nashville)

Sunday's matinee in Erie was a sack parade for the Venom defense. Led by LB Douglas Rippy (6'2 245, Colorado) and his PIFL single-game record six sacks, Nashville brought down Explosion quarterbacks a combined eight times tying the previous single-game team high set way back in 2012. Through five games in his rookie season, Rippy leads the league in sacks and tackles for loss. Along with Nashville being number in scoring defense (42.7 points allowed/game), they're also tops in red-zone defense with opponents scoring at just a 61.5 percentage rate (16 of 26).

Honorable Mention: DB Joe Powell (Lehigh Valley), DB Kevin Allen (Richmond)

Special Teams Player of the Week: DB Mike Whittaker (Nashville)

Ever since the inception of the PIFL Uno's have been the focal point of teams kickoffs making kick returns for touchdowns at a premium. After 336 kickoffs to date in the 2015 season, DB Mike Whittaker (5'9 180, Tennessee St.) became the first player to return a kickoff for a touchdown in the Venom's 63-35 win over the Explosion. Mike also picked up his first interception of the season; it was one of four Nashville interceptions including three straight to close out the game. Winners of three straight, the Venom enjoy the week off before returning home to host Columbus.

Honorable Mention: K T.C. Stevens (Richmond)

We've crossed the halfway point of the PIFL season and Week 8 kicks off this Friday with the Hammers looking to put an end to their current two-game losing streak as they host the Freedom (2-3). Weekend concludes with action on both Saturday and Sunday beginning with a rematch between Lehigh Valley (5-1) and Columbus (4-2) while the Erie (1-4) hosts Richmond (3-4) respectively.
