Phoenix Fury Land Their Head Coach
November 27, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Phoenix Fury News Release
Phoenix, AZ. Just as they embark on their new season, the ABA Phoenix Fury, has announced Don Sellers as their new Head Coach. After months of fielding a number of qualified applicants, Sellers rose to the top of the list of candidates quickly. Fury General Manager Bob Newman stated, "Coach Sellers was always my first choice. His basketball IQ and credibility is unbelievable." Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Sellers has risen through the ranks of coaching by mastering every aspect of basketball and working in every capacity of coaching.
Working as a coach on such teams as Harlem Globetrotters, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trailblazers, Dallas Defenders and Utah Eagles, Sellers has established himself as a marque name in the world of basketball. Team Director of Operations, Joe "Jellybean" Bryant offered, "His colleagues are some of the best minds in basketball. He's well liked and respected. He'll do a great job for us."
With so many years of experience under his belt, Sellers realizes the task is monumental but he's every bit up to the job. Don Sellers has been around basketball for nearly 30 years and now the Phoenix Fury has been fortunate enough to land his tenure with their team. Sellers' first challenge will be assembling a solid team in time for their opening tip off on December 7th in New Mexico against the Gallup Outlaws. Sellers explains, "It's a wonderful opportunity to be a part of any franchise in Phoenix. We're a young team, but we are very optimistic about what we're doing."
The Fury makes its home debut on December 13th at 8pm at their home facility at Greenway High located at 3930 W. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AX 85053.
