
Philadelphia Soul to Hold Two Open Tryouts

PHILADELPHIA (November 19, 2014) - The Philadelphia Soul will hold the first of two open tryouts on Saturday, December 13 at Dre Bly Field in Virginia Beach, VA (1276 Baker Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23455). The second will take place at the Philadelphia Eagles' NovaCare Complex located at One NovaCare Way, Philadelphia on Saturday, January 31. Soul Head Coach Clint Dolezel, General Manager Tom Goodhines, Assistant Head Coach Phil Bogle, and Defensive Coordinator Derek Stingley and staff will be evaluating all players in attendance.
Every season, the Soul have found players that have been invited to training camp. The most notable over the years: Ryan McDaniel, Millersville's Sean Scott and Penn State's Jerome Hayes. In two seasons with the Soul, McDaniel racked up 145 receptions for 1,845 yards and 40 touchdowns in 24 games. His standout game came when he had an impressive 13 catches for 137 yards and two-touchdown performance in ArenaBowl XXVI.
A pre-registration fee of $65 can be applied using PayPal at www.philadelphiasoul.com before Thursday, December 11 (for Virginia Beach) and Thursday, January 29 (for Philadelphia). Registration on the day of each event will require an application fee of $80 (cash or cashier's check only). A t-shirt will be included in the cost and all fees are non-refundable.
On the day of each tryout, registration will begin at 8 a.m., with stretching starting promptly at 9 a.m.
Players will be tested on their 40-yard time, broad jump and short shuttle with other position-specific drills and one-on-ones to follow. Please bring appropriate workout gear and shoes/cleats. Testing will take place on field turf - no metal cleats are permitted. A trainer will be on hand for emergencies only - not for player taping.
