July 19, 2016 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Philadelphia Soul News Release
ALLENTOWN, PA - The Philadelphia Soul (12-3) of the Arena Football League will open the 2016 postseason at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA on Sunday, August 7 at 6 p.m. and the game will broadcast live nationally on ESPN2.
In preparation for the championship run and with the Soul playing their playoff games at the PPL Center due to the Democratic National Convention being held at the Wells Fargo Center, Soul owners Ron Jaworski and Dick Vermeil declare Allentown, "All-In"Town for the playoffs.
"The Lehigh Valley is going to be put on a national sports stage on August 7 when the Worldwide Leader in Sports comes to town," said Ron Jaworski, Soul owner. "It's playoff football and the arena will be rocking. ESPN will be in town so the entire country will be watching. Lehigh Valley, I want you to show the country just how great of sports fans you are, and make that arena intimidating for our opponent. To our loyal fans in Philly and to the Lehigh Valley, it's time to get 'All-In' for the playoffs!"
"It's the playoffs, and there's no other way to be but 'All-In', said Soul owner Dick Vermeil." "This is what it is all about. It's win or go home and ESPN will be there, it doesn't get better than that if you love football. I will be at the PPL Center on August 7 and I am looking forward to our loyal Philadelphia fans and the passionate football fans in the Lehigh Valley joining me, to be our 9th man and help us bring home our second championship. It's 'All-In'Town for the playoffs!"

In addition to this first round game, the Soul are also still in the hunt to host the Arena Football League's American Conference Championship game. They will need to either defeat the Orlando Predators (12-3), or lose by less than 8 points when they play them on July 30. This will be the last regular season game before the playoffs begin. The Soul would also need to win their first round postseason game on August 7th. The Conference Championship game would be played at the PPL Center in Allentown on Sunday, August 14 at 6 p.m. should these two scenarios play out in the coming weeks.
Tickets for the Conference Championship Game are also on sale now at www.pplcenter.com. Should this game not be played at the PPL Center, all ticket purchasers will be issued a refund.
The Soul have won four division championships, three conference championships and one ArenaBowl Championship in their ten seasons in the AFL and have the highest winning percentage of any professional sports team in Philadelphia during that time.
