Philadelphia Adds Robert Redd to Receiving Corps

PHILADELPHIA (March 20, 2014) - The Back-to-Back American Conference Champion, Philadelphia Soul, announce the assignment of AFL veteran wide receiver/kick returner Robert Redd (5'11, 210, Bowling Green) on a one-year deal.
"Anytime you can add quality experience, you jump at it," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "He brings a lot of talent and experience to our receiving corps and we are always excited to add another weapon in our arsenal."
Redd enters his sixth season in the AFL and first with the Soul. He has caught 448 passes for 5,134 yards and 81 touchdowns in his career. A rookie with the Colorado Crush in 2004, Redd hauled in 44 balls for 474 yards and five touchdowns during his first year in the League. After spending the next two years with NFL squads, Redd returned to the Crush in 2007, playing in 13 games with the team. In 2008, Redd joined the Cleveland Gladiators where he set career highs with 129 receptions and 1,523 receiving yards in his first year with the club.
In addition to receiver, Redd has also starred as a kick returner during his time in the AFL. For his career, he has returned 163 kickoffs for 2,705 yards and two touchdowns. He served as the Gladiators' primary kick returner in 2012, fielding 77 kickoffs for 1,307 yards, including a 55-yard return.
Redd played college ball at Bowling Green from 1998-2002. A two-time All-MAC selection, Redd finished his career with 211 receptions for 2,726 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also set the school record for receiving yards in a game (215) against Marshall during his junior season.
Following his collegiate career, Redd signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2003. He also spent time in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, as well as the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe. He had seven catches for 102 yards and a touchdown for the Thunder in the 2005 World Bowl.
