PHF Names Jim Pfeifer Chief Marketing Officer

July 11, 2022 - Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) News Release

BOSTON, MA - The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) today named sports media and marketing veteran Jim Pfeifer as its Chief Marketing Officer. Pfeifer joins the PHF from the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA, where he served as Vice President of Corporate Partnerships since 2019, leading the team's partnerships, broadcasting, and marketing initiatives. Jim was also Interim COO for the Dream from April through September 2021, when the team went through its historic ownership change.

"I am excited for our PHF community, from players and fans to a growing list of partners and staff, to benefit from the immediate and positive impact Jim will have on our marketing and sponsorship efforts," said Reagan Carey, PHF Commissioner, who worked with Pfeifer during her time with the Atlanta Thrashers and Hawks. "His depth and scope of experience, as a veteran executive in professional sports, along with his proven leadership skills ensures we have the right person at the helm as we look to continue the PHF's positive growth and momentum on all fronts. It is also a privilege to be able to welcome Jim back to hockey, a sport he has a great passion for."

Pfeifer's expertise bolsters the PHF's business operations within a front office that Carey has expanded with industry leaders since her appointment in May. Recent hires include Kacey Bellamy, Scout and Player Relations Liaison, and Mel Davidson, Director of League and Hockey Operations. He will officially begin his new position on July 20 and will serve it in a full-time capacity.

"The time I have spent in the NHL, NBA, and WNBA working with some of the best and most innovative leaders in the industry has been amazing for myself and my family. This is a tremendous opportunity to come back to my true love, hockey, and gives me the chance to work again with one of the best leaders and big picture thinkers in sport in Reagan Carey," said Pfeifer. "All evidence, as I have seen firsthand, is that women's sports is on a business and awareness upswing that is long overdue, and I look forward to introducing new partners and fans to the PHF as we grow in all aspects of our business."

From 2016-19, Pfeifer was President of the Atlanta Blaze of Major League Lacrosse, overseeing all business operations from ticket sales to sponsorship sales, marketing, advertising, and game entertainment. Prior to that from 2005 to 2016, the New Jersey native worked in the Atlanta Hawks' front office, originally as Vice President of Marketing, Advertising, and Branding and then Vice President of Partner Integration in 2011, where he worked closely with team corporate and broadcast partners. Before joining the Hawks, the Atlanta Thrashers hired Pfeifer in 1998 as the Director of Marketing, where he was tasked with promoting an NHL expansion franchise. He also spent nine years prior in New York working at Madison Square Garden in the marketing department promoting the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.

The PHF's developing business model has distinguished North America's only professional women's hockey league as a leader in sports, securing landmark broadcast and corporate partnerships, and incremental sponsorship revenue over the past two seasons. The 2022-23 regular season schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
