Mahoning Valley Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009) - While the Mahoning Valley Phantoms are battling the U.S. National Team in Games Three and Four of the North Division Finals on the ice on Thursday and Friday at the Chevrolet Centre, the team will be raising money off the ice for the Dean Winter Fund.

The Dean Winter Fund will benefit Dean Winter, the father of former Phantoms forward Miles Winter. Dean is currently battling lung cancer, and the fund will help to defray the costs of his cancer treatment.

To raise money for the fund, the Phantoms will be raffling off a special edition team jersey over the course of Thursday and Friday's games.

The tickets will be sold for $5.00 each with the winner being announced during the third period of Friday's Game Four.

"Phantoms Hockey is more than a team; it is an extended family that includes all of the players and their families who have been a part of the Phantoms' six years in the Valley," says Team President Bruce J. Zoldan. "As part of the Phantoms family, we naturally want to support Miles Winter's dad, Dean, in his battle against lung cancer."

Miles Winter played for the Phantoms during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, racking up 46 goals and 59 assists; his 105 career points rank him fourth on the all-time points list for Phantoms behind Derek Graham (129), Rob Rassey (125) and Johnny Meo (110).

The Ambler, PA, native recently completed his freshman season as a forward for Quinnipiac University.

For the games, which will be the team's last games of the 2008-2009 season at the Chevrolet Centre, the Phantoms are offering a special Division Finals price of $8.50 for every seat in the house while giving away team memorabilia to all fans through the door on both nights as part of their "Playoff Fan Appreciation Week."

For more information or to reserve seats, fans can call the Phantom Box Office at (330) 965-7500.

The puck drops for Game Three on Thursday and Game Four on Friday at 7:15 PM at the Chevrolet Centre.

The best-of-five divisional final series is currently tied 1-1; if Game Five is necessary, it will be at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube on Saturday at 7:00 PM.

The winner of the series will advance to the Robertson Cup Tournament in Mason City, IA, starting Tuesday, April 28th.

All Phantoms postseason games will be broadcast locally on ESPN Radio 1240, WBBW-AM, and worldwide at MVPPhantoms.com via B2 Networks. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes before the opening faceoff of each contest.

All Phantoms merchandise is on sale for 40% off at the Phantoms Team Shop at both the Chevrolet Centre and the Ice Zone while the Phantoms are in the playoffs. Call (330) 965-7500 for more information.
