Mahoning Valley Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (Wednesday, March 11th, 2009) - When the Mahoning Valley Phantoms host North division rival Traverse City this weekend, the action on the ice won't be the only focus of the Phantoms organization.

The team will also be focused on the charity fundraising going on at both the ticket booth and on the ice between periods at the Chevrolet Centre as the Phantoms will be raising money for local chapters of both the United Way and Relay for Life during Friday and Saturday's games, respectively.

"The Phantoms organization is proud to be partnering with such worthy charities as the United Way and Relay for Life for this weekend's games," says Phantoms Team President Bruce J. Zoldan.

For "United Way Night" on Friday, half of every ticket that is purchased through the Youngstown-Mahoning Valley United Way office will go directly to the organization's local chapter, benefitting its many programs.

"Partnering with the Phantoms will not only raise money for the programs we support in the Mahoning Valley, but also allow us to work with another community minded organization," said Bob Hannon, President and Chief Professional Officer of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

Tickets for Friday's 7:15 PM game can be purchased by calling the United Way at (330) 746-8494, by downloading an order form from their website at www.ymvunitedway.org, or by stopping in the United Way office at 255 Watt Street in Youngstown.

For "Relay for Life Night" on Saturday, $3.00 from every ticket sold by local Relay for Life organizations will go back to Relay for Life, helping to raise funds for Relay for Life's continued commitment to cancer research and prevention.

There will also be a live auction of a small number of special Relay for Life-themed Phantoms jerseys between periods of the Saturday tilt against the North Stars; all fans in attendance are encouraged to bid on the purple, pink and white uniforms during the first and second intermissions of the contest.

Contact Bridgett Savage at 1-888-227-6446 ext. 2205 for more information on which local Relay for Life teams from whom you can purchase tickets for Saturday night's game.

Friday's game is the first of a four-game homestand as the Phantoms welcome the North Stars to the Chevrolet Centre for a 7:15 PM start.

The game will be broadcast locally on ESPN Radio 1240, WBBW-AM, and worldwide at MVPPhantoms.com via B2 Networks. The pregame show will begin at 7:00 PM.

The Phantoms will close the three-game weekend series with a 3:00 PM matinee against the North Stars on Sunday afternoon at the Chevrolet Centre.

The game will follow Sunday's Mahoning Valley St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the Phantoms are offering special $5.00 tickets for the afternoon contest. Call the Phantom Box Office at (330) 965-7500 for more information.
