Phantoms Playoff Schedule Set for First Round

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (Monday, March 30th, 2009) - The Mahoning Valley Phantoms' postseason schedule is set for the first round of the NAHL's Robertson Cup Playoffs, where they will face the third-place Traverse City North Stars.
Game one of the best-of-five North Division Semifinals will be played at the Chevrolet Centre on Friday, April 3rd, at 7:30 PM.
Game two of the Phantoms-North Stars series is set for Sunday, April 5th, at the Centre. The contest is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.
As part of the "PACK THE HOUSE" promotion, the Phantoms are offering a special deal of $5.00 for any seat in the house for games one and two of the set. Fans can also get a free T-shirt game one by visiting selected local sponsors to collect a T-shirt voucher this week.
Participating sponsors include Cassesse's MVR, Rosetta Stone Café, Jeremiah Bullfrog's, all area Buffalo Wild Wings locations, Chick-Fil-A, Overture, Outback Steakhouse, the Youngstown Sports Grille and the Ice Zone.
The Phantoms finished the regular season with a 15-4-1 record at the downtown arena.
Following game two, the series will take a three-day break before the scene shifts to Traverse City, MI, and Centre ICE Arena for game three of the opening round matchup at 7:05 PM on Thursday, April 9th.
If necessary, game four would follow on Friday, April 10th, also at 7:05 PM.
Should the series need a fifth game; the two sides would reconvene at the Chevrolet Centre for a decisive fifth game on Sunday, April 12th, at 7:00 PM.
The winner of the series will move on to face the winner of the Team USA-Alpena IceDiggers divisional semifinal in a best-of-five-games North Division championship.
Each divisional winner, along with the North Iowa Outlaws, will advance to the Robertson Cup National Tournament, a five-team round-robin tournament that starts May 2nd in Mason City, IA. This 2009 National Tournament is hosted by the Outlaws.
The '09 Playoffs mark the fifth straight postseason the Phantoms have reached in six years of operations; it is the first time in franchise history that the North Stars have reached the NAHL Playoffs.
All Phantoms playoff games will be broadcast locally on ESPN Radio 1240, WBBW-AM, and worldwide at MVPPhantoms.com via B2 Networks. The pregame show for each contest will begin 15 minutes before the opening faceoff.
