Atlanta, GA: An injury-riddled Toronto Phantoms team was upset 35-22 by the Georgia Force in front of 5689 fans at the Philips Arena.
Toronto began the game without its top two scorers in the line-up. Damian Harrell (11 touchdowns) and Jermaine Younger (7 TDs) were both sidelined with injuries. To make matters worse, the team's leading tackler Anthony Derricks and its top lineman Steve Konopka each left with injuries suffered in the first half.
Tyronne Jones led the Force to victory scoring 3 touchdowns to earn MVP honours. Ron Carpenter came up with a pair of interceptions to cop the Ironman award.
Toronto's starting quarterback Chad Salisbury was pulled in favour of Pat O'Hara after matching a season and career high with interceptions. Kerry Brown, Ty Law and Kahlil Carter each scored on TD receptions for Toronto.
With the loss, Toronto falls back to the .500 mark at 4-4. The Phantoms are now 2-3 on the road in 2002.
