VSI Tampa Bay FC News Release
Tampa, Fla - VSI Tampa Bay FC PDL dominated Ft. Lauderdale Schulz Academy yesterday evening with an 8-0 victory and VSI W-League held pace with the Atlanta Silverbacks to draw 1-1 on the road.
PDL Head Coach Sheldon Cipriani was impressed with his team's skills in their last match versus Orlando City U23s but knew there was still much to work on. After a rigorous and focused week of training, VSI's PDL would not disappoint.
VSI successfully maneuvered the ball into the back of the net in the first ten minutes of the match from Josey Portillo's placed pass to Karl Muckette. Muckette placed it in the back of the net and VSI held possession for the majority of the half failing to capitalize on another chance until just before halftime.
Portillo placed an unassisted ball into the back of Ft. Lauderdale keeper Freud's net and VSI entered half up two goals over Schulz Academy.
A wave of goals crashed into the Schulz Academy net as VSI attacked in full force through to the final moments of the second half. Goals from Portillo, Navas, Salinas, Morrell, Muckette and Thomas shows both the depth and the range of VSI Tampa Bay FC's talented squad.
The PDL team move their focus to Panama City Beach now as they find themselves travelling to Gavalak Stadium on Friday May 31 for their next match.
While PDL played at home yesterday evening our W-League were in Atlanta playing the Silverbacks to a 1-1 draw. Former Florida Gator and Boston Breakers player, Stacy Bishop, scored VSI's only goal of the match.
Pleased with this result on the road against a difficult opponent VSI quickly turns around and prepares to face the Carolina Elite Cobras for the third time this season, this time in Carolina at MESA Soccer Complex at 2:00 p.m. today.
"We are so happy to be competitive with one of the best teams in the conference and the league," said W-League Head Coach George Fotopoulos. As the women face the Cobras in Carolina, our USL PRO face the Wilmington Hammerheads this evening in Plant City Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The Hammerheads are travelling from Orlando to Plant City Stadium today after a 4-1 loss to Orlando City SC.
Tickets for tonight's pro game are buy one get one free of equal or lesser value. General admission to all of VSI's USL PRO matches is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years old. Parking is $5 and concessions are provided by Alessi Bakeries.
