April 16, 2022 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Diego Seals News Release

The San Diego Seals lost their fifth straight game on Friday night, falling to the Panther City Lacrosse Club at Pechanga Arena. The 11-10 defeat was the team's third-straight one-goal loss.

"We weren't good enough," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "The bottom line is we weren't good enough and we haven't been the last few weeks. We need to turn it around quick and be better. We dug ourselves into a hole in the first quarter and that was ultimately the game. They outworked us early and that was the difference."

Panther City jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter, but San Diego was able to battle back to tie it up heading into the locker room at halftime. A back-and-forth second half led to a tie game into the final minute of play until Panther City was able to take the lead with 35 seconds remaining which ultimately was the game's game-winning goal.

Forward Brett Hickey led the Seals offense with three goals while forward Casey Jackson added a pair of goals and five points. Defenseman Cam Holding scooped up eight loose balls including his 1,000th tally. The Seals goaltenders combined for 27 saves on the night.

The San Diego Seals will hit the road for the final two regular season home games. The team will face the Saskatchewan Rush at the SaskTel Centre on Saturday, April 23 before facing Vancouver for the regular-season finale.
