FRANK RICHARDS, Rockford Fury

Frank Richards is a 6'4" guard from Kansas State. He is a former D-League player with International experience having played in Germany and Croatia.

Frank has averaged 21 pts/game and 6 assists/game over last four games and was instrumental in Rockford's success at the recent PBL Triple "S" Super Scouting Showcase. He is a Rockford native and attended Jefferson High School.

Look out Western Division, here comes the Arkansas Impact. In the first game of the Triple "S" Showcase, the Impact drew the Chicago Throwbacks. Led by Jeremy Bell, whose 37-point effort was tops among all scorers in four games on Monday night, the Impact tossed back the Throwbacks 106-98. Kenny Langhorne added 25 points for the Little Rock crew, while Warren Beualah added 18 points.

Next up for the Impact was a challenge from their division rivals, the Rockford Fury. The Impact let a third-quarter lead slip away, falling to the Fury 117-105, despite a team-leading 23 points from Tyrone Davis. Kenny Langhorne added 18 points, while Gabe Feagan had a double-double of 16 points and 12 assists.

In the final game of the Triple "S" Showcase, the Impact were eclipsed by the Maryland Nighthawks on Wednesday night, finishing with a 102-101 defeat. Jeremy Bell was the top scorer for the Impact with 25 points; Kenny Langhorne and Tyrone Davis each had 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Arkansas.

On Thursday, the Impact took on the Reading Railers at Attack Athletics, beating the Pretzel City crew 102-95. Tyrone Davis led all Impacters with 29 points; Jeremy Bell added 23 and Kenny Langhorne scored 21.

Friday night, however, the Impact could not get past the Eastern Division leading Rochester Razorsharks, as the Little Rock crew fell 94-81 to the Sharks. Arkansas was led by Jeremy Bell with 22 points and 5 assists.

Even though the Attack Athletics facility was the Throwbacks' home court, the Arkansas Impact treated the Throwbacks like unwanted visitors, defeating Chicago 106-98. Jerome Harper was the top scorer for the Throwbacks with 24 points and 7 rebounds; Jimmie Miles added 17 in the losing effort.

Next up was a Tuesday matchup with the Rochester Razorsharks. Despite another 24-point game from Jerome Harper, the Throwbacks were chewed up 121-96 by Rochester. Sherrell Ford added 22 points for the Throwbacks; while Stanley Thomas was responsible for 16 points.

On Sunday afternoon, the Throwbacks took on Rockford at Seaver Gymnasium, but the battle of Illinois went to the Fury, 94-83. Stanley Thomas scored 19 points for the Throwbacks, but the team shot an anemic 39.5 percent from the floor in the loss.

The refortified Dallas Defenders faced off against Quad Cities in the opening night of the PBL Triple "S" Showcase, only to stumble against the Riverhawks 119-107. For the second straight game, Dallas' Mario Kinsey finished with a team-high 29 points; Mike Dawson scored 20, including a trio of three-pointers. Derale Wilson's 18 points and Tyrone Rayson's 16 were also strong scoring runs for the Defenders.

Tuesday night was a different story, as the Defenders got past the Wilmington Sea Dawgs 105-103. Tyrone Rayson's 27 points were tops for the Lone Star crew, Mario Kinsey added 23 points for Dallas. Randall Williams had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Dallas.

The final game of the Triple "S" Showcase for Dallas involved a match against the Eastern Division-leading Rochester Razorsharks. Despite another 30-point night from Mario Kinsey, the Defenders were taken apart by the Razorsharks 114-107. Tearon Hill, however, had a killer double-double - 26 points and a franchise-high 24 rebounds in defeat.

First up in the Triple "S" Showcase for the Jacksonville Slam was a divisional matchup against the Wilmington Sea Dawgs on Monday night. After a nip-and-tuck battle between both squads, the Slam were chewed up by the Sea Dawgs, 100-89. Golden Ingle had a strong night for the Slam with 21 points; while Xavier Morton had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Barry Jordan was the high rebounder for the Slam, with 15 boards.

On Wednesday night, the Slam played the Reading Railers in the closeout game of the PBL's Triple "S" Showcase. Both Antonio Lawrence and Anthony Lumpkin scored 26 points apiece for the Slam, but it wasn't enough; Jacksonville fell to the Reading Railers 115-109. Xavier Morton had a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Slam.

Opening night of the Triple "S" Showcase was rough for the Nighthawks, as they fell to the Reading Railers on Monday night 115-86. Derrick Payne was the leading scorer for the Nighthawks, finishing with 21 points. Germel Stoute had 14 points as the next-highest scorer; Stoute also finished the night with 7 rebounds. Warren Jefferson had four steals for the Nighthawks; Jefferson also scored 9 points.

Next came a Tuesday night clash between the Nighthawks and the Quad Cities Riverhawks. In a Hawks v. Hawks matchup that should have been sent by satellite to the planet Thanagar, Maryland pulled out a last-minute upset of Quad Cities 101-98, as Omar Weaver had a team-leading 22 points and 8 rebounds. Germel Stoute put up 19 points, while Derrick Payne added 21 for Maryland in victory.

The Nighthawks finished the Triple "S" Showcase on Wednesday night with a come-from-behind 102-101 win over the Arkansas Impact. Omar Weaver and Derick Payne each scored 20 points and 7 rebounds apiece for the Bethesda Crew; David Bailey and Warren Jefferson each added 16 points.

The Quad Cities Riverhawks continued their dominance over the PBL's Western Division, by taking the Dallas Defenders 119-107 on Monday night in the PBL Triple "S" Showcase. Quinnel Brown's team-leading 25 points came on 10-for-13 shooting from the floor; Brown, Bobby Anderson and Antiony Hardin had nine rebounds apiece.

The Riverhawks' nine-game win streak came to a crashing end on Tuesday night, however, as the Maryland Nighthawks upset Quad Cities 101-98. Bobby Anderson led the Riverhawks in scoring with 20 points; Willie Mitchell put 19 points of his own on the board. Anderson and Ryan Edwards pulled down 7 rebounds apiece.

Quad Cities finished out the week with a convincing 124-104 victory over the Rockford Fury at Black Hawk College, as Wharton Field House was being used as an emergency flood shelter. Bobby Anderson drilled 34 points into the hoop, including six three-pointers. ""This game was personal for both teams," said Riverhawks head coach LaTroy Farrow. "We wanted to send a message to the rest of the league with the playoffs just two weeks away." With the win, the Riverhawks clinched the Western Division regular season title and will host the Western Division finals game on March 20 at Black Hawk College.

If the Reading Railers could have played the Maryland Nighthawks as their only opponent all year, the Railers would have been undefeated in the PBL's maiden season. Already 3-0 against the Nighthawks, the Pretzel City Crew took their third win from Maryland in the opening round of the PBL Triple "S" Showcase, beating the Nighthawks 115-86. Tayron Thomas led the Railers in scoring with 18 points; Brad Merriweather and Brent Welton had 15 points apiece. Merriwether also led the Railers with 7 rebounds.

Reading and Jacksonville finished out their Triple "S" Showcase matchup with the Railers taking a 115-109 victory over the Slam. Tayron Thomas' 23 points were tops for the Sovereign Center crew; Thomas also led the team with 10 assists. Lennox McCoy added 15 points; Jared Mills and Aaron Williams each put up 11 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.

On Thursday night, the Railers took on Arkansas at Attack Athletics in Chicago, only to fall to the Impact 102-95. Chuck Davis led all Railers in scoring with 16 points; Anwar Coleman finished with 15 for Reading.

Rochester extended its Eastern Division lead in the PBL with a 121-96 victory over the Chicago Thorwbacks in the Triple "S" Showcase. Sammy Monroe and James "Mook" Reaves each scored 21 points for the Sharks; Derik Hollyfield had 15 and Keith Friel added 14. Marlin Johnson, with 10 rebounds, was the top board-getter for the Sharks.

Then, on Wednesday night, the Razorsharks took on the Dallas Defenders in the final game of the Triple "S" Showcase series for both teams. With a quartet of three-pointers from Keith Friel, who led the Sharks with 21 points, Rochester defeated the Defenders 114-107 to secure the Eastern Division regular season title and a bye in the playoffs. James "Mook" Reaves had 20 points and 7 rebounds to help the Sharks earn that all-important playoff berth.

Rochester earned their 16th win on Friday night with a 91-84 win at Attack Athletics against the Arkansas Impact. The Razorsharks were led by Steve Hailey with 18 points, shooting 10 of 12 from the free throw line and finished with 5 assists.

The Razorsharks are now the Eastern Division regular season champions, and will host the Eastern Divisional finals March 20th at Blue Cross Arena.

In their only Triple "S" Showcase matchup, the Rockford Fury trailed Arkansas 84-78 at the end of the third quarter Tuesday night, only to turn on the jets and rattle off a 39-21 fourth quarter, pulling a 117-105 last-minute victory for the Fury. Frank Richards had a team-leading 25 points for the Fury, including shooting 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Rashi Johnson added 22 points for Rockford; while Amir Major had 10 rebounds.

The Fury traveled to Black Hawk College for their Friday matchup with the Quad Cities RiverHawks, but came up short 124-104.

On Sunday afternoon, the Fury clamped on the defense at the expense of the Chicago Throwbacks, taking a 94-83 victory on the Seaver Gym floor. "There were stints in the third and fourth quarters when we actually played really good defense," Fury coach Dave Knickelbein said to the Rockford Register-Star. "We showed some signs of wanting to stop people and playing good team defense where we actually helped and doubled and all that stuff." Frank Richards and Anthony Simmons each scored 21 points for the Fury.

On the first night of the Triple "S" Showcase, the Wilmington Sea Dawgs employed a defensive struggle game against the Jacksonville Slam, winning 100-89 on Monday night. Charles Ward finished with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds for the Cape Fear crew; Byron Mouton scored 19 points, while Devin Mooring added 10 rebounds to the mix.

On Tuesday night, however, the Sea Dawgs were upended by the Dallas Defenders in the Triple "S" Showcase, losing 105-103. Jason Pryor continued his strong run with the Sea Dawgs, scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds; Charles Ward added 17 for Wilmington.
