Traverse City North Stars News Release
TRAVERSE CITY - A hockey game and silent auction to help aid in the recuperation of Pat Erway is slated for Nov. 19 at Centre ICE arena in Traverse City preceding the North Stars-Texarkana contest.
Pat Erway, a detective with the Grand Traverse Sheriff Dept., suffered a severe head injury while on vacation in North Carolina and is presently rehabbing in a Grand Rapids hospital. His progress has been nothing short of inspirational, but Erway still faces a long and challenging - not to mention costly - recuperative regimen.
The Pat Erway Hockey Benefit will pit the TC LawDogs against the Traverse City Fossils. The LawDogs are comprised of law enforcement agents from the Sheriff Dept. and Traverse City Police Dept., while the Fossils roster is made up of local businessmen and Traverse City Central High School coaches, staffers and ex-players. Erway played at Central, in the Grand Traverse Hockey Assoc., and junior-A hockey before becoming a public servant.
Jake Erway, a North Stars forward and brother of Pat Erway, will captain the LawDogs. Also slated to play for the LawDogs: Nathan Alger (GTSO), Chris Barsheff (GTSO), Jarrod Bilacic (GTSO), Jim Bussel (TCPD), Rick Davidson (GTSO), Paul Ellul (TCPD), Tom Emerson (GTSO), Keith Gillis (TCPD), Chris Halleck (GTSO), Matt Jerome (GTSO), Mike Makowski (GTSO), Mike Matteucci (GTSO), Joe McCarthy (TCPD), Rodger McEvoy (TCPD - Ret.), Greg McManemy (GTSO), Brian Newcombe (GTSO), Mike Opper (GTSO), Ryan Salisbury (GTSO), Bob Sillers (GTSO), Evan Warsecke (TCPD), Ken Zimmerman (GTSO)
Traverse City Central High School hockey coach Chris Givens will serve as captain of the Fossils, whose roster includes North Stars coaches Scott Gardiner and Mike Stapleton. The rest of the Fossils roster includes local businessmen Brian Macdonell, Mike Anton, Denny Phillips, Scott Tilford, Pete Correia, Kerry Russell, and Terry Marchand, plus Traverse City Central staffers and former teammates of Pat Erway's such as Duane Archambo, Scott Harvey, Jeremy Rintala, Chris Jackson, Eric Keipper, Chad Fournier, Matt Miller, and Justin Street.
For information or for tickets, call Nathan Alger at (231) 995-5015 or the North Stars office at (231) 941-9200. For updates on Pat Erway's condition, visit the North Stars Web site at traversecitynorthstars.com or carepages.com.
