Waza Win Home Opener
Creative relationship yields record PASL-Pro crowd
12/23/08 - The Detroit Waza were the vagabonds of the PASL-Pro, logging mile after mile on a season-opening six game road trip. They survived mechanical breakdowns and six straight losses, including hard 10-2 and 15-5 drubbings at the hands of Colorado and St. Louis, respectively.
But they got a clean slate Saturday afternoon with a comfortable 9-4 win over the Springfield Spirits in their home opener at Compuware Sports Arena. The doubleheader with the Detroit Ignition drew a PASL-Pro record crowd of 3,632. In a novel approach, Waza will play 10 doubleheaders with the XSL's Ignition.
PASL-Pro League Action
The Colorado Lightning got a cold dose of Canadian hospitality, enduring subzero temperatures and back-to-back losses at Edmonton and Saskatoon. The Lightning are now tied with Denver at 3-4 for second in the Western Division.
Matt Breines became the third PASL-Pro player to score five goals in a game as Cincinnati completed a home-and-home sweep of West Virginia, 13-6 on Saturday.

Colorado vs. Denver II
The rematch of the PASL-Pro's biggest rivals moves to the Budweiser Events Center on Sunday. The first game saw the Lightning win 10-9 in overtime in a game punctuated by a league record 36 penalty minutes and 15 penalties. The two teams have four regular season meetings scheduled plus they'll go head to head on January 10 in a US Open Arena Championships game.
Brian Farber, Stockton Cougars
He's the most prolific goal scorer in the PASL-Pro right now. Including the Cougars challenge match against the San Diego Sockers and their US Open game against Santa Clara, Farber has 17 goals in seven games. His four goal game led the Cougars to the final eight of the US Open with their 11-3 win over Santa Clara.
Mehdi Sfaira, Colorado Lightning
The Lightning lost 7-4 to Edmonton on Friday, but those four goals all came from "Magic" Sfaira who got high marks from CMISL Commissioner Mel Kowalchuk. The native Moroccan also gained high praise earlier in the year from PASL-Pro Commissioner Kevin Milliken.
