Palidwor Clinches NLL's Best For March

April 4, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Edmonton Rush News Release

Edmonton, AB-- For the first time in franchise history, a member of the Edmonton Rush has claimed the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Month honour.

Goaltender, Curtis Palidwor, claimed the award for his outstanding play during March that saw him capture three wins in four games while providing the Rush with stellar net minding. His performances not only got the Rush out of the doldrums of a winless start to the season, but then lifted the club right into playoff contention in the National Lacrosse League's West Division.

"Curtis has provided us with the kind of clutch goaltending that we needed to get back in the race," said Rush GM/Head Coach Bob Hamley. "He's a veteran who has given us leadership on top of excellent play on the floor. He's done everything we've asked from him plus much more and he absolutely deserves this recognition."

The monthly award follows a NLL Defensive Player of the Week honour that Palidwor earned during March. He picked up his first weekly award of the season and second as a member of the Rush when Edmonton secured a 9-7 victory in Portland. The win was the Rush's first of the year and largely due to a 47-save performance from Palidwor.

The Rush then picked up their second win in a row and second home-floor overtime victory in team history in a 10-9 upset of the defending champion Rochester Knighthawks. Palidwor notched 34 saves in that win and chipped in two assists.

And in the Rush's final game of March, Palidwor racked up 35 saves in a standout defensive performance by the club as they topped the San Jose Stealth 12-5.

Palidwor, who is in his eighth NLL season, currently sits third in the league with a .779 save-percentage while his 10.77 goals-against average ranks him fourth. The New Westminster, B.C., native holds down ninth spot among NLL goalies with 243 saves and he has collected seven assists this season.
