Paints Take on Dans in Division Championship Game

August 8, 2019 - Prospect League (Prospect) - Chillicothe Paints News Release

The Chillicothe Paints and Danville Dans tied for the best record in the East Division at 40-20, the second-best record in the entire Prospect League this season. Because Danville won the season series 2-0, the Dans host the Paints tonight (Thursday) in the East Division Championship Game. The winner advances to play in the best-of-three Prospect League Championship Series.

The Paints are expected to start right-handed pitcher Austin Calopietro, from the University of Toledo. Calopietro earned a 6-1 record with a 2.47 ERA in 21 appearances during the regular-season and led the league with 73 strikeouts. His only start this season was July 31 at Danville and he allowed just one hit, walked one, hit one and struck out 13 batters in 6 2/3 innings.

Danville is expected to start right-hander Tanner Green, from the University of Houston. Green went 3-0 with a 2.80 ERA in 15 appearances (three starts) this summer. He started opposite Calopietro July 31 in Danville, a game the Dans won 1-0 in 12 innings. Green didn't allow a run and surrendered just two hits, walking one and striking out seven over five innings.
