Chillicothe Paints News Release

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Cal McAninch for the upcoming 2019 season, which begins May 30.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound pitcher appeared in five games with the Norse as a freshman during the 2018 season. He struck out four batters in six innings. Injury forced McAninch to redshirt the current collegiate season while he rehabs and readies for summer competition.

McAninch, a Columbus native, played high school baseball at Bishop Watterson, where he pitched and played middle-infield.

Upon signing with the Norse out of high school, Northern Kentucky Head Coach Todd Asalon said, "We recruited him as a pitcher and expect him to be invaluable out of the bullpen as a sidearm reliever. He has a bulldog mentality and has pitched in many big games at Watterson."

The 2019 Chillicothe Paints season begins Thursday, May 30, at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. The Chillicothe Gazette presents a FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA by 94 Country and draft beer will be just $1 for Thirsty Thursday. The Paints have made the playoffs seven times in the 10 seasons since joining the Prospect League as a charter member in 2009. The Paints regularly lead the Prospect League in attendance with an average of nearly 2,000 fans per game and are one of the highest-attended collegiate wood-bat summer teams in the country. Advertising and season ticket information is available by calling (740) 773-TEAM.
