
Paints Ride Big First to 4th Straight Win

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints (7-9), presented by Adena Health System, took a 4-0 lead after two innings and went on to win 4-2 over the West Virginia Miners (8-9) Tuesday night at VA Memorial Stadium. The win is the fourth straight for the Paints.
Stewart Nelson led off the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second base, and scored on a wild pitch to give the Paints a 1-0 lead. Then, with two outs, Jamie Lackner hit a two-RBI single to make it 3-0 Paints after one inning.
Chillicothe added a run in the second when Dylan Shockley walked to start the inning and scored on a two-out RBI hit from Jack Thompson. Four runs was all the Paints needed.
West Virginia scored its two runs in the top of the fifth. Nick Delgado hit a two-out, two-RBI single to cut the Paints' lead to 4-2, the eventual final.
Brendan Burns (1-1) started for the Paints and allowed two runs on two hits, walked two and struck out six to earn his first win of the season.
Jack Szott pitched three scoreless innings of relief and Jake Horew pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the season.
West Virginia starter Brandon Stuckenschneider (0-3) took the loss. He allowed three runs on two hits, three walks and a wild pitch over one inning.
The Paints are home again Wednesday against the Kokomo Jackrabbits at 7:05 p.m. on "Winning Wednesday", lucky fans will win free gas from Valero.
