CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Champion City KIngs (1-1) scored five runs over the first three innings and the Chillicothe Paints (2-1), presented by Adena Health System, couldn't recover in a 7-3 loss Saturday night at VA Memorial Stadium.
Champion City's Jet Swetland drove in four runs in a three-for-five effort to pace the Kings offensively.
Chillicothe was retired in order only once in the game by Kings pitchers. The Paints left 13 runners on base, including eight in scoring position.
Perley Provost (0-1) took the loss for Chillicothe, he went 5 2/3 and allowed six runs on six hits, struck out one, walked one, hit one batter, and threw one wild pitch.
Kings starter Jordan Norton earned the win as he allowed three runs over five innings, struck one out, walked three, hit a batter, and tossed two wild pitches.
The Paints wrap up their season-opening home stand Sunday at 6:05 p.m. againt Terre Haute on Kids Club Day, sponsored by Subway. All Kids Club members receive free admission. Tickets are available online at www.chillicothepaints.com, on the new Chillicothe Paints mobile app, and at the game.
