
Paints Drop Series Finale in Lafayette 12-10

LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, dropped the series finale 12-10 to the Lafayette Aviators at Loeb Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The Paints (26-15) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Chris Eisel led off with a double, scoring on a base hit by Justin McIntyre. McIntyre scored on a double by Trey Smith.
Lafayette (21-20) tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on three hits and an error.
After the Paints regained the lead at 3-2 with a run in the top of the second, the Aviators scored four in the bottom, two more in the third and four in the fourth, taking a 12-4 lead.
The Paints began to chip away at the Aviators' lead in the top of the sixth. Joe Laudont doubled to lead off the inning. After Charlie Patrick was hit by a pitch, Eisel reached on a fielder's choice, a play that also included two throwing errors, scoring Laudont. McIntyre walked and Eisel stole home on the catcher's throw back to the pitcher, cutting the Lafayette lead to 12-6.
Chillicothe plated three more in the eighth, thanks to a walk, an Eisel single, two errors, and McIntyre sacrifice fly, making the deficit 12-9.
Ethan Hajdukovic doubled in the ninth, moving Luty to third following a walk earlier in the inning. Lafayette's first baseman mishandled a ground ball by Patrick, scoring Luty and making it 12-10, the eventual final score.
The Paints are off Monday and host West Virginia at 7:05 p.m. at VA Memorial Stadium Tuesday for Dime-A-Dog Night, sponsored by Just Meats and Heiner's Bakery.
