
Paints Contribute to East's 11-2 Win in All-Star Game

NORMAL, Ill. - The East Division largely dominated the 2019 Prospect League All-Star Game at The Corn Crib Tuesday night, and five Chillicothe Paints contributed to the 11-2 win.
After breaking the Prospect League's single-season triples record Sunday, Cody Orr led All-Star Game off with a triple and scored on a single by Danville's Max Jung-Goldberg, giving the East an early 1-0 lead.
Gavin Homer walked in the top of the second and Orr bounced one over the wall for a ground-rule double. Both scored on a single by Jung-Goldberg to put the East up 4-1.
Orr collected his third hit of the game, a single in the top of the fourth, and later scored as part of a three-run home run by Lafayette's Chris Monroe, extending the East's lead to 8-2.
Zach Kendall pitched the second and third innings, allowing a run on three hits, walking two and striking out three to earn the win.
PLAYER-BY-PLAYER RECAP:
Cody Orr was 3-for-3 with a single, a double, a triple and three runs scored.
Gavin Homer finished the game 0-for-1 with a walk, strikeout and run scored. He also threw out a runner at the plate in the first.
Cole Andrews was 0-for-3 at the plate, but threw out a runner trying to steal second base in the bottom of the fourth.
Zach Kendall earned the win in two innings of relief. He allowed two runs on three hits, walked two and struck out three.
Nate Haugh pitched the eighth inning, surrendering one hit and striking out one.
The Paints are off Wednesday, but return home for a three-game homestand beginning Thursday night at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings and Normal CornBelters. Thursday is Team Photo Giveaway Night by Mears Photography, it's also Thirsty Thursday as draft beer is just one dollar. Friday is Cool Treats Night by Dairy Queen. Saturday is John Wend Bobblehead Night, sponsored by Merchants National Bank and Weller's Plumbing and Heating.
