BOSTON, MA - The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced its Three Stars of the Week following weekend action played February 24-26, 2023. Top performers include forwards Madison Packer of the Metropolitan Riveters, Tereza Vanišová of the Toronto Six, and Justine Reyes of the Connecticut Whale.
First Star: Madison Packer had four points in two games, scoring twice with two assists to produce back-to-back multi-point performances for the first time this season. The Riveters captain scored the game-winning goal and chipped in a primary assist in Friday's 6-2 win over Boston which was the team's first victory of the 2022-23 campaign over the Pride. Then she netted a first period power play goal and added another primary helper on Sunday despite a 6-3 loss to Connecticut. Packer is now second on her team in scoring with eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 20 games which marks her sixth season with a double-digit point total. These stats contribute to impressive career figures for the University of Wisconsin graduate including 62 goals and 123 points which both rank second among the league's all-time skaters which she has accumulated over 127 games since the inaugural 2015-16 season. This year the 31-year-old from Detroit, MI is one of only five players to compete in all eight PHF seasons to date, and also set a PHF record with her sixth All-Star appearance as she captained Team USA during January's showcase.
Second Star: Tereza Vanišová scored three even strength goals in two games to help lead first place Toronto to a weekend road sweep in Minnesota that secured her team a top-two finish in the PHF's overall standings. She provided the game-winning goal in both outcomes including Saturday's 1-0 triumph and Sunday's 7-1 victory over the Whitecaps. Her two goals in the series finale count as her second multi-goal game of the season and extended her point-streak to three-straight games. The 27-year-old from Strakonice, Czechia is tied for sixth in T6 scoring with a career-high 14 points including six goals and eight assists in 18 games and represented her team and country earlier this season as a PHF All-Star on Team World. Vanišová is a University of Maine graduate who won back-to-back Isobel Cup titles with Boston before signing this past offseason with Toronto. She also has extensive international experience, most notably as a 2022 Olympian who competed last February in Beijing where she led her team with six points in five games.
Third Star: Justine Reyes recorded her first career PHF hat-trick to lead Connecticut to a clutch 6-3 comeback win over the Riveters on Sunday that also clinched a berth in the 2023 Isobel Cup Playoffs for the Whale. The Chino Hills, CA native who celebrated her 26th birthday on Valentine's Day scored all three goals in a 5:10 stretch during the third period which counts as the fastest hat-trick of all eight produced in the PHF this season. Her first was scored even strength at 2:36 where she sniped from the slot to tie the game 2-2, the second was on the power play at 4:38 where she snapped home a centering feed from Lenka Serdar to make it 3-2, and her third was a pretty wraparound at 7:46 playing five-on-five to make it a 5-2 game. Her three tallies were among five the Whale registered in the final frame which ties a franchise record for most goals in a single period. This was Reyes' second three-point performance of the season, giving her eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 20 games which is tied for fourth in team scoring. The St. Lawrence University graduate is a PHF newcomer after three seasons overseas that included two in Germany's DFEL and once in Sweden's SDHL.
