August 8, 2016 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release
Washington, PA - The Pennsylvania Rebellion and the Dallas Charge concluded a three-game series today at CONSOL Energy Park in Washington, PA Sunday. The fans on hand for the final PA home game of the 2016 season saw an exciting game as the Rebellion were victorious by a final score of 5-2.
The scoring started early when, in the bottom of the 1st, Rebellion Center Fielder Kayla Winkfield came across to score the first run of the game on a throwing error from Charge Shortstop Renada Davis, and it was 1-0 PA.
The Charge, however, would respond quickly. Some two-out lightning in the 2nd saw Dallas take their first lead of the evening. An RBI single by Right Fielder Nadia Taylor, followed by an RBI double by First Baseman Kaitlyn Richardson, put the Charge in front, 2-1.
The Rebellion took the lead back for good in the bottom of the 3rd. First Baseman Stacey Porter kicked off the festivities with an RBI double. That was shortly followed by a bunt from Mandy Ogle, which scored another run. The third run of the frame scored on a sacrifice fly from Shortstop Chaley Brickey, and just like that, the Rebellion jumped ahead 4-2.
Pennsylvania would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th when, after a double from Brickey, Designated Player Courtney Senas came through with an RBI single. The run extended the Rebellion lead to 5-2.
The Rebellion were paced in the circle by a solid start from Pitcher Emma Johnson. She tossed four innings, allowing just a pair of runs on four hits while striking out three. Rookie Pitcher Madi Osias entered in relief in the fifth and threw three scoreless frames for the save.
Today's POWERHANDZ Player of the Game is Rebellion Shortstop Chaley Brickey. She was 1-1 with a double, walk, sac fly, RBI, and a run scored. For the plethora of stats as well as a few defensive gems, she earns herself the player of the game honor.
The Rebellion (16-28) will hit the road to start a six-game trip to Texas to conclude their season. They battle the Scrap Yard Dawgs in a series starting on Tuesday night. The Charge (16-28) will head home for their final home stand of the year, which starts Tuesday evening against the Chicago Bandits. Catch all the action on NPFTV on profastpitch.com . BOX SCORE
