Outlaws are back
You heard right, the Outlaws are riding back into town for the 2006 season and beyond.
Thanks to the efforts of the Mavericks ownership group, the thoughtful and generous actions of past Billing's Outlaw's owner Duane Anderson, the Mavericks will return for next season and beyond as the "Billings Outlaws." Anderson has agreed to sell the Outlaws logo and trademarks to Montana Professional Sports LLC., the company that owns the NIFL Franchise in Billings.
"The Mavericks served us well as we only had weeks before the season last year to pull together a new team, get uniforms, find a coach and get ready for the season," stated Dan Austin, MPS managing partner, "but this will always be an Outlaw's town. We couldn't begin to tell you how many times we heard from fans and sponsors, wish you could have kept the Outlaw name and logo."
Duane Anderson, whose vision brought indoor football to Billings 6 yrs ago commented, "After watching the kind of effort these guys put into the team both on and off the field, I felt the Outlaw's name and tradition could continue where I left off. I am excited to see the Outlaw name go forward in Billings".
Effective immediately, The Billings Outlaws will represent The National Indoor Football League in Billings Montana. League President Carolyn Shiver noted, "The Billings Outlaws" name is such a big part of the history of the NIFL; it is great to see the Outlaw name back in the NIFL lineup. We look forward to years of watching the Outlaws play in the beautiful city of Billings".
