OurSports Central announces AFL Players of the Week

March 24, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids quarterback James MacPherson, New Orleans VooDoo defensive back Calvin Spears and New Orleans VooDoo defensive back Wendall Williams were named the OurSports Central Arena Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for week four of the AFL season.
MacPherson in his first ever AFL start was 24-27 (89%) with nine touchdown passes and no interceptions in the Rampage's 92-52 victory over the Kansas City Brigade.
Spears had three interceptions and five tackles in the VooDoo's 63-24 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators.
Williams returned a missed field goal 53 yards for a touchdown and recovered a kick off the bar and returned it three yards for another score in the VooDoo's victory.
Other players considered for Offensive honors were Philadelphia WR Chris Jackson, Philadelphia QB Matt D'Orazio, Chicago QB Sherdrick Bonner, San Jose WR Cleonnard Saintil, Dallas QB Chris Sanders, and Georgia WR Charles Pauley.
Others considered for the Defensive award were Philadelphia DB Eddie Moten, Philadelphia DL Gabe Nyenhuis, Orlando LB Marlon Moye-Moore, Orlando DB Kenny McEntyre and Dallas DB Jermaine Jones.
Other players considered for Special Teams honors included Columbus Mark Lewis (35-yard game winning against Utah), Columbus Rasheed Marshall (six returns for 130 yards, including a 54-yard TD), Chicago's Dan Frantz (four special team tackles), Philadelphia's Mike Brown (six returns for 127 yards) and New York's Levy Brown (four returns for 155 yards, including a 52-yard TD).
