
Oshawa Power Takes on London Lightning

(OSHAWA, ON) After two weeks of intense two-a-day practices and two very successful intra-squad games, the Oshawa Power has trimmed their training camp roster to 16 players. Please see page three for the full roster
"The Oshawa Power team will be very entertaining to watch. The athleticism on this squad is unbelievable and the unselfishness of the guys is admirable," said Gary Durrant, President of Basketball Operations. "It will be very hard to let go of some of these very talented players in camp but we will finalize our roster in the next week or so."
The Power will now start a two game home-and-home preseason series against their Highway 401 rivals, the London Lightning. This Sunday October 23 the Power battle the Lightning at the John Labatt Centre and then the two teams go at it again for the rematch at the General Motors Centre on Thursday October 27 in Oshawa. Both teams feature former NBA players as head coaches as Michael Ray Richardson will pace the sidelines for the Lightning while Mark Strickland will guide the Power squad.
The 16-man roster heading to London includes Canadian Sr. Men's National Team player Denham Brown, National Basketball League of Canada number one overall draft pick Morgan Lewis, former York University standout Tut Ruach and fellow Canadian Paul Campbell. The roster also includes Americans Marcus Robinson, Akeem Wright, Omari Johnson and EJ Kusnyer.
The Oshawa Power will start off their preseason on the road on Sunday October 23 against the London Lightning at 2 p.m. and at home against the same Lightning on October 27 at 7:30 p.m. The Power will play their first home regular season game of the season on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the General Motors Centre, where they will tip off against the Moncton Miracles at 7:30 p.m.
