Oscar Nominated Director Ron Shelton on the Clubhouse Show

(LANCASTER, CA) - With one of the most impressive guest lists in the show's history, the JetHawks Clubhouse Show will air tonight at 5 PM on Magic 1340 and JetHawks.com. Ron Shelton, legendary writer and director of some of the greatest sports movies of all-time, including Bull Durham, will talk about his relationship to the Antelope Valley. Houston Astros President of Baseball Operations Tal Smith will discuss the overall philosophy of the Astros organization, especially how it relates to the Minor League system and the JetHawks. Plus, fans can get registered into a drawing to win a night in a JetHawks luxury suite by playing JetHawks Trivia.
Shelton was nominated for an Oscar for writing Bull Durham, which he also directed. The movie was based largely on his experience as a player in the Minor Leagues, including two years in the California League playing for the Stockton Ports. As he explains in his interview, the very first movie he tried to make was called "The Antelope Valley". Since Bull Durham he has made such seminal sports movies as "White Men Can't Jump", "Blue Chips", and "Tin Cup", as well as "Hollywood Homicide". Shelton will share his thoughts on the making of those films and will also talk about his next movie- his first baseball film since directing "Cobb".
Tal Smith has spent 52 years as a baseball executive, including 33 with the Houston Astros. His mark on the club is honored at Minute Made Park by "Tal's Hill", the unique ten-degree rise in center field. He has served as both President and General Manager of the Astros in his long service to the team, as well as having served a stint as the Executive Vice President of the New York Yankees.
As usual, the show will include an interview with JetHawks manager Wes Clements and the playing of JetHawks Trivia. The winner will win four tickets to a JetHawks game, while all those who attempt to answer the question will be registered into a drawing to enjoy a game in the JetHawks luxury suite in August.
The show broadcasts live from the Hangar from 5-6 PM and is hosted by JetHawks radio broadcaster Jeff Lasky. The show can be heard on radio at Magic 1340 AM and is also streamed live at JetHawks.com.
