June 12, 2019 - Premier Lacrosse League (PLL)
Major League Rugby Championship on CBS Sunday
Major League Rugby will have its first telecast on CBS this Sunday with its championship game between Seattle and San Diego. Most telecasts have been on CBS Sports Network which isn't rated, so a high rating is not likely expected. Expectations would be in the ballpark of the Premier Lacrosse League and WNBA ratings recently on ABC and NBC. If MLR were to top 600k viewers, that would have to be seen as a major victory for the league, and maybe an indication that some promotion could make future broadcasts on network TV more viable.
Last Weeks OSC Leagues Ratings Summary:
|6/8 3:30pm||ABC||WNBA||0.11, 565k|
|6/8 4pm||NBCSN||PLL||Not in Top 150|
|6/9 2pm||NBC||PLL||0.11, 409k|
NBC's first broadcast of the PLL pulled in the same 18-49 demographic rating as ABC received on Saturday. Their overall viewers number, though, was almost 150k less than the WNBA game, showing a younger demographic interest in lacrosse vs. basketball.
The CFL will begin its season on ESPN2 this coming week, starting with a game Thursday night.
The BIG3 League will begin play in two weeks with two games on CBS, including a prime time game on Saturday night June 22nd. CBS last had a live sports broadcast on Saturday night with the inaugural week of the AAF.
