Orange County's Cortez Named USL Player of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. - Orange County Blues FC forward Chris Cortez has been voted the USL Player of the Week for the 24th week of the 2015 season after he recorded two goals to lead the Blues to a 3-1 victory against the Portland Timbers 2 in a key Western Conference clash on Saturday night.
Cortez received 43 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market. Harrisburg City Islanders forward Craig Foster finished second with 29 percent.

GK - Odisnel Cooper, Charleston Battery: Recorded a five-save shutout to help the Battery claim a key 2-0 win on the road against Richmond
D - James Thomas, New York Red Bulls II: Defended solidly throughout, and provided the assist on NYRB II's game-winning goal against Wilmington
D - Shawn Ferguson, Charleston Battery: Helped shut down Richmond's dangerous attack as Charleston took a big step toward a place in the playoffs
D - Onua Obasi, Rochester Rhinos: Had a strong two-way game down the left side as the Rhinos took a 2-0 win against Saint Louis FC
M - Sebastian Saucedo, Real Monarchs SLC: Was highly influential throughout as the Monarchs took a 2-1 win against Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Friday
M - Jose Barril, Harrisburg City Islanders: Recorded three assists as the City Islanders romped to a victory against FC Montreal
M - Rob Vincent, Pittsburgh Riverhounds: Scored the only goal, his 18th of the season, as the Riverhounds earned a big road win in Louisville
M - Tommy Thompson, Sacramento Republic FC: Had a goal and assist to help Sacramento claim a victory against Tulsa and return to the top six in the West
F - Emery Welshman, Real Monarchs SLC: Scored both goals as the Monarchs claimed their first win against Colorado Springs on Wednesday night
F - Chris Cortez, Orange County Blues FC: Had a pair of goals and combined well with new addition David Estrada as the Blues defeated Portland 3-1
F - Craig Foster, Harrisburg City Islanders: Scored a hat trick as the City Islanders took a 6-0 win against Montreal to maintain their push for the playoffs
