Orange County SC Beaten on the Road in San Antonio

Orange County SC fell to San Antonio FC 4-0 on Saturday, September 23 at Toyota Field in San Antonio, TX. Three goals in the second half in quick succession for the home side claimed all three points for San Antonio.

The hosts kicked things off on the front foot in the 6th minute when midfielder Nathan Fogaca was played through on goal by forward Tani Oluwaseyi. Fogaca struck cleanly with the left foot and past OCSC goalkeeper Eric Lopez for the early 1-0 lead.

SAFC appeared to threaten again in the 15th minute, after a defensive miscue let forward Santiago Patino in on goal. It would've been another dangerous chance for the hosts, but defender Dillon Powers was able to recover defensively and made a well-timed tackle to snuff the danger.

Orange County SC's best chance in the early going came in the 17th minute. Midfielder Brian Iloski struck a free kick from just outside the box that was headed for the top corner, but was saved by SAFC goalkeeper Nick Marsman.

The Black and Orange had another opportunity in the 33rd minute after a corner was cycled out to defender Ryan Doghman. Doghman whipped in a cross towards the back post for forward Thomas Amang, who's header towards the near post was saved by Marsman.

The second half began optimistically for the visitors to get something out of this match, but San Antonio FC struck for three goals in quick succession with one in the 50th minute from defender Walid Yacoubou, Oluwaseyi added the third in the 57th minute and forward Santiago Patino added the SAFC's fourth in the 61st minute.

The Black and Orange were unable to find their way on the scoresheet in the second half. Their best chance came courtesy of forward Milan Iloski in the 81st minute, but his shot from in close missed just outside the left post.

OCSC head back on the road next week when they take on the Phoenix Rising next Saturday, September 30 at 7:30 PM PST. The Black and Orange will return home on Wednesday, October 4 when they host Oakland Roots SC at 7:00 PM as a part of our California Classic Night! Grab your tickets here today!

Tonight marked the 100th USL Championship appearance for midfielder Brian Iloski.

Midfielder Kevin Partida served his yellow card accumulation suspension tonight and will be eligible to return to the lineup next week against Phoenix Rising FC.
