New Jersey Ironmen News Release
West Orange, N.J. (Wednesday, July 16, 2008) - New Jersey Ironmen Head Coach Omid Namazi took some time to visit the "Write on Sports" camp at West Orange today, fielding questions from an aspiring young group of future sports reporters. The camp is conducted at West Orange High School and develops the athletic reporting talents of a group of local seventh and eighth graders.
"They have a great camp here that teaches the kids how to interact with celebrity or sports figures," Namazi commented after spending time with the energetic group of young journalists. "It seems like the kids are having a lot of fun. There is a high soccer population in this area, and they seemed like they had a lot of interest in it."
Throughout the impromptu press conference at the Write on Sports "headquarters," Namazi tackled questions ranging from his balance between being both a player and coach to whether or not his opponents were afraid of him. After the open questioning concluded, he took the young group of inspiring reporters from their turf to his- the playing field. He had the students doing some of the same drills that have aided him in taking four different indoor sides to the postseason. Once the training session was completed, the two-time MISL Coach of the Year took a few minutes to deliver an inspiring message to the attentive class regarding what will surely be promising futures for them all.
This appearance marks the second consecutive year that Namazi has been to the annual "Write on Sports" camp.
The New Jersey Ironmen are currently underway in their inaugural summer camp programming. Camps are conducted by the Ironmen coaching staff and players, offering participants the rare experience of learning directly from the pros. All players also receive a t-shirt, soccer ball and a ticket to the 2008-09 New Jersey Ironmen home opener at Prudential Center this fall.
