Oklahoma signs hometown star Brent Price

MILFORD, CT â The United States Basketball League, Inc. (USBL) announced today the signing of former NBA star and Enid resident Brent Price by the Oklahoma Storm. Price will hold the responsibilities of player, assistant coach, and vice-president of community outreach.
Price, a 10 year NBA veteran, is no stranger to the Enid area. He will be playing in the Mark Price Arena, so named for his brother, for a team that his late father Denny coached, and in the community that he stills calls home. Price was the 32nd pick of the Washington Bullets in the 1992 Draft. He also played for the Houston Rockets, Vancouver Grizzlies, and the Sacramento Kings, averaging 5.9 points a game.
"Playing is not a decision I took lightly, especially with the injuries I've had,'' said Price. "It's still a question mark on what I'll be able to contribute; I don't want this to be a token deal. If I feel like I'm not contributing, I will gladly turn it over to the younger guys.''
"I'm a basketball player,'' said Price. "This is a good fit for me now. I probably have a different philosophy than any player in the USBL. I'm not looking to get another NBA contract or to go overseas. The bottom line is I still love to play, and I'm still young enough to do it.
"Right now I don't have a lot of personal expectations. That will develop as we get into training camp. Right now I feel good and feel I have a good chance to contribute in big ways. People shouldn't expect a miracle. I'm not the player I was seven or eight years ago. But I will do my best on the court. I only know one way to play, and that's the way Denny Price taught us to play.''
"We are very happy to have a member of the Price family back in the USBL. Denny was a great coach for the Storm and to have his son Brent returning to action for the team his father coached is special. Brent was a great shooter in the NBA and his return to the hardwood as a member of the Storm is great for the Enid community and the USBL as a whole," stated USBL Founder and Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer III.
