Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Dodgers were held to three hits in a 1-0 shutout loss to the Round Rock Express Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Both teams were held without a run and to a combined three hits through five innings. The lone run of the game scored in the top of the sixth following an error, two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly. Four Express pitchers combined to slow the Dodgers' hot offense that had scored at least six runs in six straight games, with starting pitcher Cole Ragans completing the first six innings. Round Rock (36-32) outhit the Dodgers, 4-3, to even the series between the teams, 1-1, as OKC fell to 42-26 overall.
Of Note: -The Dodgers suffered their third shutout loss of the season and third in the last 25 games, with two against Round Rock. It was the Dodgers' first 1-0 loss since the 2018 season when the team had four 1-0 losses. They last lost, 1-0, Aug. 29, 2018 at Iowa in a seven-inning game and last took a 1-0 loss in a game of at least nine innings Aug. 14, 2018 at Omaha (10 innings). Wednesday was the team's first 1-0 loss at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark since June 27, 2018 against Nashville (seven innings) and first 1-0 loss in a nine-inning game at home since June 2, 2017 against Colorado Springs (10 innings).
-The Dodgers tied their season low with three hits and did not record an extra-base for just the second time this season and first time since April 14 at El Paso.
-Wednesday's game was completed in 2 hours, 19 minutes, marking the team's fifth game of the season to be completed in less than 2 hours, 20 minutes at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
-Michael Grove pitched a season-high 5.0 innings for the Dodgers, allowing two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in his fourth start with the team. The 5.0 innings also tied his career high.
-The Dodgers held the Express to one run for a second straight game for the fewest runs allowed by the Dodgers over a two-game span this season. It was the third time in the last four games Oklahoma City allowed one run or less. Thursday's one run allowed was unearned against the pitching staff.
-Jake Lamb tallied one of the team's three hits and extended his hitting streak to a career-best 13 games. During the hitting streak, Lamb is 20-for-52 (.385) with three homers, seven doubles, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. It is the longest hitting streak by a Dodgers player this season.
-Miguel Vargas recorded a hit and walk and is now 8-for-20 over his last five games with four RBI, five walks and four runs scored. He also played his first career game in left field, recording three putouts, including a running grab in left-center field for the final out of the seventh inning with two runners on base.
-Two notable hitting streaks came to an end Wednesday as Michael Busch and Jason Martin both drew walks, but were each held 0-for-3, snapping Busch's 12-game hitting streak and Martin's 11-game hitting streak.
