
Ohio State's Zach Dezenzo to Play for Paints

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Another Ohio State Buckeye will be in Chillicothe for the 2019 season, as infielder Zach Dezenzo has signed with the Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System.
A 6-foot-4, 215-pound, freshman at The Ohio State University, Dezenzo has already played in 25 games for the Buckeyes and is currently hitting .258 with four doubles, one triple, five home runs and 19 RBIs. After starting the season at third base, Dezenzo has moved to shortstop because of an injury to fellow Buckeye and Prospect League player Noah West.
Dezenzo was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week March 18 after he hit .467 (7-for-15) with four runs scored, one double, three home runs and five RBIs in four games.
At the start of the season, the Alliance, Ohio, native was named to the 2019 Impact Freshman list by D1baseball.com.
Dezenzo is from Marlington High School, where he was named a 2018 team captain, team MVP, first-team all-conference, all-county and all-district. He was named conference player of the year after batting .522 with 11 doubles, three triples, one home run, 31 RBIs, 34 runs scored, 18 walks and 16 stolen bases.
Dezenzo joins pitcher Mitch Milheim as the second Ohio State player on the 2019 Chillicothe Paints roster, NCAA and Prospect League rules allow up to four players from the same school on a team. The Paints' roster currently sits at 21 players, 32 is the max a Prospect League team may carry at a time.
The 2019 Chillicothe Paints season begins Thursday, May 30, at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. The Chillicothe Gazette presents FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA by 94 Country and draft beer will be just $1 for Thirsty Thursday. The Paints have made the playoffs seven times in the 10 seasons since joining the Prospect League as a charter member in 2009. The Paints regularly lead the Prospect League in attendance with an average of nearly 2,000 fans per game and are one of the most highly-attended collegiate wood-bat summer teams in the country.
