Ohio Machine Select Alex Woodall with First Overall Pick in 2019 MLL Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade

March 9, 2019 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Ohio Machine News Release

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina- The Ohio Machine selected Towson faceoff specialist Alex Woodall with the first overall selection in the 2019 MLL Collegiate Draft presented by Cascade on Saturday at the Nascar Hall Of Fame in Charlotte, NC. This marked the third time that the Machine held the first overall pick in the MLL Collegiate Draft.

Woodall started his college career at High Point University, but opted to move back to his home state of Maryland and transfer to Towson University his sophomore year. Since becoming a Tiger, Woodall's accolades have been extensive. He has been named First Team All-CAA, CAA All-Tournament Team, Preseason Inside Lacrosse Media All-America and he has won more than 60% of the faceoffs he has taken.

This season, Woodall's 73.6% faceoff percentage ranks third in the nation, including his 21-for-28 effort against Johns Hopkins, and his 20-for-26 against then number one ranked Loyola. Currently, his Towson Tigers are ranked number one atop the Inside Lacrosse and USILA Coaches Polls.

"We're excited to add someone of Alex's caliber to our team," Machine Head Coach and General Manager Bear Davis said. "After watching him succeed through the college ranks, he exemplifies what it means to be a first overall pick, and we're really looking forward to having him join the Machine organization as he plays at the professional level."
